Dentist in San Diego

Missing teeth affect more than your appearance. They can make chewing uncomfortable, change the way you speak, and leave you hesitant to smile in photos. At Sorrento Dental Care, we use prosthodontics to replace missing teeth with natural-looking, durable solutions designed around your comfort and lifestyle. For more than 15 years, our team has provided restorative dentistry in San Diego, CA, and many of our patients have trusted us with their smiles for a decade or longer. We would be honored to care for yours, too.

What Is Prosthodontics?

Prosthodontics is the area of dentistry focused on restoring and replacing missing or damaged teeth. When a tooth is lost, neighboring teeth can shift, the jawbone can begin to shrink, and your bite can change over time. A well-designed restoration helps prevent these problems while bringing back the function and appearance you have been missing. Our prosthodontic treatments include the following options.

  • Implant Restorations: A dental implant acts as an artificial tooth root. Once your implant has healed, we design and attach a custom crown or bridge that looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth.
  • Removable Partials: If you are missing several teeth but still have healthy natural teeth, a removable partial fills the gaps. It attaches securely to your existing teeth and comes out easily for cleaning.
  • Dentures: Full dentures replace an entire arch of teeth. Today’s dentures are lighter, more comfortable, and far more natural-looking than the ones many people remember.
  • Implant-Supported Dentures: For added stability, implant-supported dentures and partials attach to a small number of implants. Your teeth stay firmly in place, so you can eat, laugh, and speak without worrying about slipping.

What to Expect During Treatment

Every prosthodontics plan begins with a thorough exam and a conversation about your goals. We always take time to answer your questions before treatment begins, because informed patients feel more at ease.

Next, we capture precise digital impressions with our iTero scanner. This replaces the messy impression trays most patients dislike and gives our lab highly accurate measurements. You may return for one or more fittings so we can fine-tune the fit and appearance. After your restoration is placed, we schedule follow-up visits to make sure your bite feels natural, and everything works as it should.

Technology and Comfort at Every Visit

We invest in technology that makes care faster, safer, and more comfortable. Our handheld X-ray units use reduced radiation, and digital scanning helps us design restorations with excellent accuracy.

Comfort matters just as much. Patients can relax with headrest pillows, blankets, and headphones, and we offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation for those who feel anxious. Our team also speaks several languages, so you can discuss your care in the language you prefer.
