After this procedure your gums will probably be slightly sore and irritated for a few days. Some bleeding is normal but as you continue with good home oral care bleeding will completely stop. You should rinse your mouth with warm salt water or the medicated rinse we have recommended (1 tsp salt/8 oz water) 2-3 times a day. This will relieve the pain and cleanse the area. Brushing and flossing should be continued right after the procedure. A flouride rich toothpaste is recommended for every night use. This will help with sensetivity of teeth and will nurish the root portion of your tooth that has been exposed to all the inflammation and bacteria.
Depending on your pain threshold you could take some pain relieving medicine as needed such as Motrin or Advil. Avoid any hard or chewy foods for 2-3 days after the procedure to ensure the area heals correctly. If you continue to experience pain or swelling after a few days contact us.
