Extraction

You can expect for the extraction site to bleed for a little while after the surgery. Gauze will be applied and provided at the completion of the surgery, you need to keep it in place and put pressue on it for 45 mintues. You may need to change it when it becomes heavily soaked. If bleeding continues for longer than 24 hours please contact us . Rest when you return home, but do not lie flat. This could prolong the bleeding. Prop your head up on a pillow when lying down. Take your pain medicine as directed. You can also use an ice pack for the pain or if you experience any swelling. You should rinse your mouth with the anitbacterial mouth wash we prescibed. Rinse with 1oz three times a day. Be sure to brush the area very gently.

  • Do not use a straw for 72 hours
  • Do not smoke or spit
  • Rinse your mouth very gently three times a day
  • Take your pain medicine as directed
  • Use Ice pack for the first day and warm compresure next day if their is any swelling
  • Make sure you go to your 1 week post operative appointment

You will be limited to soft foods for a few days after your surgery. Some recommended foods are:

  • Gelatin
  • Pudding
  • Yogurt
  • Thin or watery soup
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Ice Cream
